Address: Chapel Street, Prahran
Prahran is a busy busstling region of Melbourne known for its variety of shops, cafes, restaurants, night clubs and people who live there. Its shopping centre stretches for miles as it changes from one suburb to the next. Chapel Street is the main street that goes through the centre of Prahran, lined with a vast variety of shops on each side.
Whether you have shopping to do or just enjoy a nice walk looking in the windows, Prahran is well worth taking the time to visit. It is located not too far from the city so its well do-able with a smal fram of time. Allow at least 2 - 3 hours to enjoy it fully.
Opening Hours: The shops in Prahran open mainly at 8.30am and close in the early evening hours. The restaurants and cafes can open from early in the morning til late in the evening. No matter what time you are in Prahran you will always find something open.
How to get there: You can get to Prahan by either tram or train. I prefer the train as it is a lot quicker, with only about 5 stops, whereas the tram will stop at every intersection between Melbourne and Prahran. Just turn right from the Centre, go to the Southern Cross Railway and purchase a ticket. You can buy a 2 hour ticket for $3.20 or an all day ticket for $6.10 - Please be aware that any 2 hour ticket purchased after 6.00pm in the evening is valid until midnight.
Please note:: You MUST be over 18 to enter either the bars or night clubs. Security Guards monitor ALL entrances and they WILL ask for Identification if they do not think you are over 18. Therefore it is always best to have some form of ID with your foto and date of birth on it. Passport or Drivers License is the most preferable identification to have.
You must also be suitably dressed if you wish to enter some of the night clubs. Security have the right to refuse you entry if they think your clothing is undesireable. No thongs, singlets, etc.
Make sure you have Australian Dollars with you as most places will not accept US$
