Ladies' Luncheon Fundraiser 2012

The Ladies' Luncheon Function was a great success. Over 118 women turned up to be spoilt by sweets, champange, food and shopping stalls to browse and purchase from. A good variety of raffles and door prizes were also on offer. We raised over $3600 from the function and the Ladies' Function Committee have said that the money will go to purchasing new tub chairs for the lounge area. Many thanks for all of those who assisted with this function.

A Warmer Winter

March 2012: One of our projects of 2011, the replacement of 7 old space/wall heaters, has come to fruition. This was made possible by the TK Foundation (website) who approved a grant of $15,000 USD ($13,631 AUD) for the project.

The installation of the new heaters was conducted by Rescue Plumbing (website) who completed the work in late March at a total cost of $16,060 AUD. On one chilly night after they were installed, the heaters were turned on delivering immediate heat like never before and at an efficient rate.

Our much appreciative thanks goes to the TK Foundation for the grant, ICSW (website) for coordinating the grant and to Rescue Plumbing for their support of the project. Since Rescue Plumbing had first quoted on the work, the project cost rose considerably, but in the spirit of generosity they waived the additional costing, for which we are truly grateful.

Seafarers visiting the Melbourne centre can look forward to a warmer winter.
