4th October 2011: Representatives from both Stella Maris Melbourne and the Mission to Seafarers (MTS) attended the Port of Melbourne Corporation's (PoMC) headquarters to sign a Memorandum of Understanding in the presence of the PoMC CEO and other senior officers. The Memorandum re-affirms the committment of both missions to providing the best possible welfare and support for seafarers and enables better co-operation between both Centres in the provisioning of services.

A BIG year for Stella Maris:
In 2010, Stella Maris Melbourne was visited by over 17,000 seafarers, making it one of the busiest years to date for all staff and volunteers.
Open Week
At the end of September 2010, to mark the Year of the Seafarer, Stella Maris Melbourne held a week full of events that included tours of the port and evening lectures presented by guest speakers. To view the week's events, please click here (PDF 1.3MB)

Mental Health of Seafarers
2009: Stella Maris Melbourne joined with Beyond Blue, The Rotary Club of Melbourne South, Melbourne Port Welfare Association and the Mission to Seafarers Victoria to initiate and produce a booklet providing basic information to Masters and other ship officers about the mental illness of depression. In addition to English, the booklet has been translated into other languages and since its official launch mid-2010, it has been distributed by Ship Visitors to the crews visiting Melbourne.
